"I let myself fall.... I let myself fall in love with you"

"There's no turning back :) since I let myself fall in love with you!"- Rosie Thomas
I can't even express how much I love David and our little girl.
I get all nostalgic and just am so much more happy when the heat has subsided and fall comes around!! I can't even contain my excitement for Olive's first holidays and the many activities we have planned in the next few months- to include carving pumpkins, eating solid foods, playing in the snow, and unwrapping presents- I'm getting too excited to sleep- oh wait I'm not getting much anyway! HAHAH!

This last weekend little Punkin and I went to my parents house (Gammy and Papa) and had a blasty blast!  It's tradition that I help my mom decorate for fall and of course she found some absolutely adorable fall goodies for baby Olive to sport during our usual "omg she's so cute" photo session!  These are just a few of my favorites.  Our little ham had 3 cameras on her and 4 people at one point cooing and calling her name, waving every toy imaginable in the air to get her attention!

 Leggings from Hobby Lobby!

There are more to come thanks to our dear friend Daryl!  He and his gorgeous other half Lisa brought over homemade lemon cupcakes and lemon ice cream, as well as tons of gifts for little Olive- and of course their cameras!

I swear this baby is either going to be a model or a photographer with as many cameras as she has seen!

After we got back from my parents house on Tuesday- this week just flew by and was ExTrEmElY busy! With David healing, olive hitting a growth spurt and eating in the middle of the night, the solar panels on our house being finished, wedding planning, and working, I don't know where this week even went- it was a total BLUR!!

I can't believe it is Friday already and it's time for the weekend again!  This weekend we will be laying low! Possibly meeting with our future wedding photographers, maybe hitting the PUMPKIN PATCH, and with David out of commission for a while I have a lot of organizing and cleaning to do!  I will get some house pics up soon and some pics of the organizational system I have for Olive's closet!

In the mean time feel free to enjoy this video of our little punkin head taking one of her first rides in her new walker!  We got her a walker this weekend and she is 1cm too short to really walk herself around- nonetheless she doesn't want to get out of the thing and was dragged around for hours by anyone who would pull her!  Beer in one hand, walker strap in the other for a 30 minute walk around the kitchen- priceless.

ALSO!  In a few weeks Olive and I will be walking in the Komen 2013 Race for the cure!  The hospital I work for has a team and we are going to be bringing the party with us that day!  It will be Olive's first race of 3 this year and the first of many to come! Strollers are welcome so come on out and walk with us, join the team, make a donation, or keep an eye out in a few weeks to see the pics from the walk!! SO excited!! :)

Swimmy Lessons!!!

It's Thursday!! Does everyone know what day it is? It's swimmy lesson day (normally!) This week Olive and I will be on hiatus due to the fact that my handsome man David got into a motorcycle accident this weekend and we have errands to run! DONT WORRY- he is in a lot of pain but home safe and sound.  He managed to break his collarbone and a rib and almost collapsed a lung but through all the pain pills he was able to muster "I am gonna have some pretty cool scars from this!"
Yes babe, that's right.

 Seriously?

For all you phoenix Mommies out there- Hubbard Swim School offers free swim lessons for babies from 10 weeks to 6 months old at their facilities! THEY ARE AMAZING! Super clean, well organized, and sooo friendly I can't rave enough about how great of an experience we have had! Olive just loves "Swimmy lessons" and we can't get her out of the pool!

On an exciting note though- while David was in the hospital I got some edited photos from our engagement shoot!! I had a dear friend take these photos for us (since we are kind of on a shoe string budget with the baby and house LOL) Our wedding is a heap of DIY projects and "What family member can officiate our wedding for free?!" so it was BEYOND helpful for her to lend her services and give us full access to our photos free!  Needless to say the chalkboard (well it's mini cousins) had to make an appearance!!  These are just a few of mine and the photographers favs!!

These photos were taken at our future wedding venue: The Tempe Center for the Arts!!  This place is a modern architects dream and has soooo many beautiful views around it!  I am THRILLED with the modern elements and they work great with the idea of the minimalist wedding!  The scenery is the decor and this will help so much with my design on a dime dreams!!

Typically I HATE- can I emphasize HATE any greater- side profile shots of my face, I have this awkward lack of "separation between church and state" going on between my chin and neck and a nose for days but my dear friend did amazing!  She put up with my awkward robot arms and my constant trying to face directly towards the camera hahaha.

This photo was a shoot fav by all :)

Well I'm off to pick up my little monkey from daycare!  Can't wait to post pics from this coming weekend! Little Olive and I are off to visit Gammy and Papa and get a bunch of chores done while David is resting up at home!

So let's just say life got a little crazy starting January 1 and I failed my first attempt at blogging.  To quote my favorite Blogger of all time Jessica Garvin- it's been a "Shit show"!! In 3 months time we moved in to our newly built home, I got a job (finally- it was getting a little tiresome standing on my feet all day at the glorious Pier1) and started working at the Cancer Center here in Phoenix, and little Olive made her appearance almost a week late!  Lets just say with painting, no sleep, packing and unpacking, trying to not be OCD about the nursery, and learning my new job- life was a little crazy!

And NOW my little monkey is 5 months OLD!  OH MY WORD! where did the time go?!
This was a box from David's motorcycle helmet that she just did not want to get out of! I can't stop looking at pics of my little punkin!!!

Flashback ahead!!

(Chalkboard idea inspired by the talented Jessica Garvin!)

"Baby Straight Legs"

To think- about this time 1 year ago I was about 13 weeks pregnant with baby girl!!  Back then we had no idea if she was going to be an Olive or a David, but one thing I already knew for sure was she was a little firecracker!  Week 13 is when we had the ultrasound that screened for the range of birth defects and our little dancer was just wiggling and jamming out! The ultrasound tech and I couldn't stop laughing because she couldn't get a good shot of anything!  Olive would fist pump and bounce around and then would lay completely still with her legs straight out!!!  I was forced to cough to move her off my pelvic floor but then she would just start be-boppin away again- there was no neutral!  Either full blast rave fest or straight legged coma!  She was known from then on as "Baby Straight Legs".

Well it's been one of my goals to give this blog another "College Try" and like I said, share some glimpses of our unconventional, first time parent, crafty homemaking, crazy shit show lives!! :)  There will be weekly flashbacks to display my chalkboards from weeks past as well as updates on our house, what it's like to be a mommy stuck between the limbo of "Ph.D. career woman" and "wanna-be pinterest bad-ass".... it's a constant struggle to have my gluten-free-don't-to-my-ass-cake and eat it to but maybe this blog will help me realize I can have both and care it all with you!!!

I promise the next blog will tell you more about us and who we are... because I have already spend wayyyy too much time looking at prego and baby pics today!!
